Each event will take a group of participants aged 11-16 out of their usual environments and away from home comforts, whilst introducing a variety of vital life, social and team-building skills, including shelter building and outdoor activities, providing opportunities for participants to get active, and improving their overall well-being whilst working and interacting with military veterans, benefitting from their diverse skill sets and experiences. Transport will be provided to and from the Peak District, in line with the government’s safer travel guidelines.

We will be exploring various destinations, including Lantern Pike, Kinder Scout and Mam Tor; all participants will be issued with the appropriate equipment as well as PPE to complete the challenge safely. Our activity days will provide participants with the opportunity to broaden their horizons and engage in positive, community-based activities during the school holidays whilst learning key life skills.

The day will include safety briefings; an introduction to new skills like orienteering, for example, using a map and compass; cooking outdoors on an open fire; and the opportunity to work in teams and gain confidence throughout the day. They will be faced with challenges to overcome and show their resilience. We feel that this will encourage a greater understanding of each other, and this will in turn have a positive impact on each other in the community.
