Mission statement
Project R&R has been created to offer free or subsidised mentoring support programs to 11-18 year olds or those still in full time education, regardless of economic status or eligibility for external funding. Operationally, our mission is to reduce overall permanent exclusions within the Greater Manchester Area, encourage engagement & attendance in education whilst providing clear & robust independent development pathways for our service users.
About us
The organisation was originally formed as a Ltd company under the name of UK Military Mentors in 2019, delivering around 5, 1-2-1 mentoring programs per week primarily in Tameside. In January 2020 UKMM secured its first Local authority contract, which allowed for a further 2 members of full time staff to be employed and increased our deliver capacity to around 13 sessions per week. This allowed us to broaden our geographical footprint somewhat and by the following January we had established centralised contracts with a further 2 local authorities, increasing the delivery staff to 6 mentors, delivering between 25-30 sessions per week. This seemed to be our natural saturation level for the geographical area we we’re able to cover, however referrals were regularly requested for increasing levels of engagement per individual student which led to the conception of our on-site provision (Project R&R). Since the launch of Project R&R in September 2022, we have grown the team further by employing more delivery staff and establishing a small but robust management structure which has had a significant impact on our ability to refine and improve the quality of our programs and in turn the quality of outcomes for our learners.
