outreach mentoring programme
Our outreach mentoring program is conducted in 3 phases. Initially, our mentors will create a FOUNDATION of mutual respect and trust over a 2-3 session period. In this time, we will work to establish obtainable outcomes for the young person involved as well as establish a detailed plan of how we intend to achieve these objectives. The young person will be actively involved in the planning element of the program, taking responsibility for the financial viability of each activity working from a pre-determined budget allocation.
Once this is established, we will move into the DEVELOPMENT phase of the program. This is where our mentors will begin to use their experience to introduce the students to relevant and appropriate strategies in line with their specific, desired outcomes of the program. Upon completion of each session, our mentor will formulate a full report which will be fed back to the school/project staff by email. We attempt to meet with school and project staff on weeks 3 & 9 of each student’s program to discuss progress and interject any relevant updates to the young person’s situation as and when required. Activities can range from Mountain walking & orienteering to survival skills and educational visits.

The final phase is where the program is brought to its CONCLUSION. This is where, using the information obtained throughout the program, if appropriate we will attempt to re-engage the young person with their school/provisions with different levels of support in place as and when required. We should have established from meetings with school/project staff whether the young person is on target at this stage and can take these opportunities to really drive home their bespoke strategies, in order to increase their chances of a successful re- engagement.
